The City of Medicine - What that means for Healthcare

Healthcare

We are the City of Medicine. What does that mean now in this day in age?

I’ve got to be honest with you, there isn’t a lot that we can legislate to make it better. Our council can not create a bill to challenge the hatred and vitriol in D.C. around the health care legislation.

Here’s what I can promise. Under my watch, Durham will resist. We will not be quieted. We will link up arm in arm with the amazing health institutions in our city. We will be vocal. We will fight for the rights of those with pre-existing conditions. We will fight the insurers for quality plans, and we will not allow the rich to line their pockets on the backs of the elderly and sick.

I wish I could promise each and every citizen of Durham Health Insurance. I wish that I could campaign on a promise of expanding medical care to the sick, the poor and the young. I can not create that change, but I will fight for that change each day for the citizens of this fine city.
